I have always been around the jewelry industry. My father moved from Germany to the US to pursue a career in hand engraving in the 1960s. He owned a repair shop that eventually grew into a jeweler's supply store. I have grown up working for my dad in the supply shop being surrounded by jewelers' tools and equipment. My original plan was to run as far away from the jewelry industry as possible.

In 2000, I started at Clemson University in South Carolina, where I studied Health Science with a concentration in Behavior Change and Nutrition and Physical Activity. I worked in the Department of Nutrition and Physical Activity at CDC for my senior internship. After graduating in 2004, I worked at Nike as an evaluation contractor. Wanting to quench my artistic thirst while at Nike, I started taking jewelry making classes. After two years, I was ready to leave the corporate world and return to the jewelry industry.  Since then, I have immersed myself in the art of jewelry making. I spend my days at the jewelry supply store and my evenings in my home studio.
