Want to know the elementary know-how's of sewing
to get started
quickly? Get the basics of sewing in this
beginner's class!
The Weekend Stitch course will teach
you everything you need to know to
get you started! You
will get to know your machine and become
comfortable
with many sewing techniques, from language
to processes.
Class will cover:
basic sewing machine knowledge
how to thread and use a sewing machine
sewing terms and definitions
professional sewing basics – overview of buttonholes &
hems
how to lay out and cut a pattern
pressing techniques
basic trouble shooting
Materials to bring:
For
Table Runner: 1 yard quilting cotton plus 1 yard
coordinating
cotton
I yard double-sided fusible interfacing (ie. Wonder Under
or
Heat and Bond)
1 yard single-sided fusible interfacing
For Tote: 1 yard quilters cotton
Matching thread
Sewing Machine (or use one of ours!)
Sewing Machine Needles
Bobbins
Scissors
Seam Ripper
Pins
Soft measuring tape
Hand-sewing needles
Marking Pencil/Tailors Chalk
WEEKEND SESSIONS
Saturday & Sunday, June 16 & 17, 1-5 pm
Saturday & Sunday, August 11 & 12, 1-5 pm
Terms & Conditions:
Cancellations. Cancellations made at least 14 days before the
first
class meeting are eligible for refund or credit. The beehive
reserves
the right to cancel a class if fewer than two students
enroll.
Private Sessions. If a class is canceled due to lack of
registration,
students will be given
the opportunity to attend the class as a private
session for a $25 upcharge fee. Or, the student has the option to
attend a future
session where additional dates will be provided.
