The
Kaiser Sisters love tradition. When Carla and Katie were little, Brenda planted blueberry bushes in the yard, and showed her girls how to pick the right blueberries, wash them, cook them, and how to add the sugar and magic to make blueberry jam. Carla and Katie would decorate the jars and give the jelly to friends and neighbors each year. At the time, the gals werent exactly sure why their mom didnt just go to the store and buy stuff instead of making things from scratch, but each year they looked forward to the ordeal, and learned to love and appreciate each step of creative process. Thats the origin of the handmade love behind all of Concrete Lace products. They take great care in each step of creating their goods. The Concrete Lace sisters not only illustrate many of their products with pen and ink, but they also print, cut, fold and stuff each card by hand in their Atlanta studio. The studio features a 1935 Vandercook #4 letterpress, a 1905 Champion cutter, a 1910 table-top kelsey press, plus a slew of books, inks and tools. When they crank up the press, you will always find them jamming out to their Atlanta Artist Mixa definite source of local inspiration. |
