meet: Angela Traunig.
Creator of Ferntree Studio

My name is Angela Traunig, and I’m the artist behind Ferntree Studio. I was born in Ferntree Gully, Australia. My family moved to Atlanta when I was 8 years old and this is where I pretty much grew up! I’m a southern girl with even more southern roots! It doesn’t get much more southern than the southern hemisphere. Ha.

I’ve been creating art in all its myriad forms since I was a little kid. I remember gathering dirt and twigs and stones and gluing them down to paper to create ‘landscapes’. I remember choosing to stay inside painting in preK when all my classmates chose to go outside and run around in the sprinklers. I’ve always been just fine being alone with my art. Art has been my closest and most constant companion.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Georgia Tech 2001. I never had the opportunity to pursue industrial design, but never lost my interest in art. I continued to create, but never thought about putting my work out to the public until the last couple years.

When I was sent home on bed rest during my pregnancy in 2009, I had the time (and the nesting urge) to create, create, create! I was amazed at all the cartoon critters that were suddenly running amok in my brain. I had to get them out and on paper. Ferntree Studio was born!

I recently started Ferntree Flowers, where I create handmade custom paper flowers for weddings, special events and home dιcor. I most recently was featured in the ‘related items’ section on two separate Etsy.com Storque wedding articles. I have requests from brides all over the world and look forward to adding another amazing industry to my world. Babies and weddings, how can it get any better?
